The hotspot is the spot where the trigger cushion, which transmits the impact impulses to the piezo element, presses against the drum head. If a stroke hits right there, the impulse triggered by the piezo is so strong that the loudest
sound is delivered by the drum module (usually unintentionally). Even light impacts on the hotspot deliver very strong signals in relation to strokes of the same strength outside the hotspot
area.
